Spring destinations in Europe.
Spring is when Europe comes to life, making it the best time to travel. With businesses reopening after winter and the weather getting warmer, you can avoid the busy rush of mid-summer whilst still experiencing the vibrancy and colour, but at a slower pace. The options of where to visit are endless and driving offers a unique travel experience. The Channel Tunnel is your doorway to Europe.
Paris is always a good idea
A simple three-hour drive from Calais takes you to Paris, where in spring you will find the café culture coming into full swing. If you want something for the children, Disneyland Paris is quieter during this season and with this year’s 25th anniversary, there are extra special celebrations happening.
The Land of Chocolate
Where better to spend Easter than in the home of the chocolatier. When you arrive in France, a two-hour drive across the border will bring you to Brussels. With chocolate eggs and Easter baskets decorating shop windows and citywide Easter egg hunts, it is an ideal time to get involved in the local culture.
The Hills are Alive…
If you want adventure, one of the main advantages of visiting Switzerland during spring is the drop in prices. The main ski season is over however resorts still have winter sports until mid-April. The picturesque drive to Switzerland will make the trip worthwhile; think ‘The Sound of Music’ hills and cowbells in the alpine pastures.
If you have more time and driving with the roof down sounds appealing, southern Spain has the warmest spring weather in Europe. Top up your tan walking around the famous Seville Spring Fair, a colourful festival with outdoor markets, entertainment and traditional Spanish dress.
Top tip: Get the most out of your spring break by planning your road trip route to visit the most sights on the way. It is about the journey not the destination.
