Things to do in Europe

FESTIVAL FEVER – Where to go in Europe this summer for the best music festivals!

Spring has finally arrived! As much as we love Christmas here at Holiday Inn Express Folkestone – Channel Tunnel, nothing beats the light nights, warm sun and enjoying fantastic music with friends!

And if it’s music that you’re looking for this summer, Europe HAS IT ALL! Check out our top three recommendations for festivals to check out on the continent.

Sziget Festival has burst onto the scene in recent years and continues to grow even bigger. The event takes place across seven days (yes, a whole week) and showcases some of the world’s biggest names from the music industry.

However, it’s not just the music that makes Sziget so special. The festival takes place on an island in the middle of Budapest and offers tons of other activities to do during your time on the ‘Island of Freedom’.

Beach football, bungee jumping, games tents, yoga classes, a circus area and relaxation pods are just some of the treats you can enjoy – while a trip into Budapest itself is DEFINITELY recommended.

With Liam Gallagher, Mumford and Sons, Kygo, Stormzy, Dua Lipa and more already confirmed, this year promises to be the biggest yet!

Benicassim, like Sziget, is another that has been immensely popular with the British festival goer in recent years. Offering a diverse line up, incredible Spanish sun and four days of non-stop partying, it’s understandable as to why this has been the case!

The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Travis Scott and the Pet Shop Boys will be providing the beats this time around, ably backed up by Bastille, Madness, Two Door Cinema Club, Jessie Ware, Catfish and the Bottlemen and many more!

Let’s be honest – who wouldn’t love a four day holiday in the sun listening to that incredible lineup?!

Love EDM? Then there’s no chance you haven’t heard of Tomorrowland. The pinnacle of the electric dance music calendar takes place in Belgium every year, suitably conducted by DJ powerhouses Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike.

Every DJ you’ve ever heard of will be there, but there is one thing more impressive than the line-up – the production levels at the festival itself.

Tomorrowland is an immersive experience, aimed at allowing festival goers to leave all their stresses at the door and enjoy incredible tunes for a weekend of fun in the sun.

This is definitely one for the bucket list!

There you have it! There’s tons of festivals in Europe this summer – you’ll definitely find one that suits your music tastes. And what better way to travel than with a road trip to the festival, perfect to make this summer the BEST ONE YET!
