We’re always championing the prospect of travelling through the Channel Tunnel and enjoying the beauty and wonder of mainland Europe – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some incredible attractions on our shores.
In fact, we have some amazing places just a short distance from Holiday Inn Express Folkestone – Channel Tunnel – and we’ve picked our top three for you here!
The White Cliffs of Dover
If you haven’t heard of this one, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? The infamous White Cliffs of Dover are infamous worldwide and are a must visit during your time in Kent.
Offering stunning views, the cliffs are seen by many as a clear symbol of Britain, particularly following the rescue of thousands of British troops from the beaches of Dunkirk in World War II.
To sum it up, the cliffs are a huge part of Britain – and make a pretty good backdrop for an Instagram photo, too!
Brockhill Country Park
A summer visit to Folkestone is not complete without a trip to Brockhill Country Park! This fantastic nature area offers a lake, meadows and vast wildlife, with a sizeable playground and several trails offering adventure and fun times for the entire family.
There’s also a vegetarian-friendly café in the park, allowing you to refuel straight away after an exhausting day hiking around the beautiful meadows!
Just a 10-minute drive from the Holiday Inn Express Folkestone- Channel Tunnel, we really can’t recommend this one enough!
The Folkestone White Horse
The Folkestone White Horse is a white horse hill figure carved into Cheriton Hill. Completed in 2003, the figure overlooks the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone and is seen as the ‘overwatch’ for the tunnel itself!
Most visible from above, the white horse itself is an iconic piece of architecture in our beautiful county and is definitely one to go and check out!
Of course, there’s many more brilliant attractions in Kent and Folkestone for you to check out – just ask a member of staff who will be more than happy to recommend something to suit your tastes!
